Merrifield, who left TBWA\ in November 2011, after spending nine years with the network, will be based in Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney. R/GA Australia lured Whybin\ TBWA Sydney creative director GAVIN MCLEOD to become its founding ECD. McLeod told CB: “Nick [Law] and Bob [Greenberg] have a unique vision for R/GA which they have articulated over many Skype chats over the past few months. It’s a viewpoint which I completely buy in to and is refreshingly different. I look forward to delivering on it in the new year.” McLeod joined Whybin\TBWA in March 2011. Before that, he had four years as creative director of M&C Saatchi/ Mark, Sydney. Award-winning South African team AVISH GORDHAN and MANDIE VAN DER MERWE were lured from Black River FC in Johannesburg to join the cre- ative department at Whybin\TBWA in Sydney. The pair recently won the Grand Prix at South Africa’s Loerie awards for their Nando’s ‘The Last Dictator’ spot. CRAIG DAVIS, chief creative officer of Publicis Mojo Australia and New Zealand, resigned from the business to focus on creativity and innova- tion in a wider business context. Davis joined Mojo in June 2009, six months after departing the world- wide creative director role at JWT. Adding to the creative strength in the Sydney office, MICHAEL DOLE joined the agency as head of art from Clemenger BBDO Sydney, partner- ing with IAN WILLIAMSON as head of copy. In the past Dole has worked at Wieden + Kennedy in Amsterdam. Clemenger BBDO Sydney CD MATT FOLLOWS departed the agency to SHANE BRADNICK, ECD at BMF Sydney, was lured to the creative director role at DDB Group NZ. He will work together with ECD Andy Fackrell across a number of DDB’s accounts. In 2009 the Won Report named Bradnick the 3rd most awarded art director when his ‘TED696’ campaign for Tooheys Extra Dry was named number one most awarded Direct Campaign return to the UK for personal rea- sons, only 10 months after joining in February last year. Follows has worked at some of the best agencies in the world, including Wieden + Kennedy in London, Amsterdam and the States. Follows is the third CD loss for Clemenger BBDO Sydney since they parted ways with Luke Chess and digital CD James Theophane in September last year. and number three most awarded Integrated Campaign, globally, in the same year. Wunderman national executive creative director MATT BATTEN trans- ferred to London to take the group chief creative officer role at the agency network’s operations in the UK. Batten joined Wunderman Sydney as CD in January 2009, soon promoted to national execu- tive creative director. Batten was previously a member of award-win- ning DM teams at BMF and Saatchi & Saatchi. Ogilvy Australia lured STEVE BACK, chief creative officer at Ogilvy Singapore, to the newly created role of national chief creative officer, based in Melbourne. Back joined Ogilvy Singapore from the ECD role at Saatchi & Saatchi Australia in late 2010. Naked Communications snared former DDB Sydney creative direc- tor SIMON VEKSNER to the head of ideas role across its Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland offices.
