ANIMATION CAMPAIGNBRIEF MAY/JUNE 2013 Flux:it's Kiwi for Flicks FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS in a home garage over 15 years ago, to an award winning, international innovator with 15 TV shows and countless advertising campaigns under their belt, Flux Animation is on the up and up. In fact, last year saw Flux produce more minutes of content than ever before in their history, including a promotional piece for Pixar, 100 episodes of children's TV series 'Tiki Tour' and several high profile TVCs for clients ranging from Air New Zealand and Toyota to the Look out Australia, Flux Animation, one of New Zealand's biggest and most successful animation studios has landed on Aussie soil, bringing with it 15 years of history and a bucket load of fresh talent. And while we can all agree to disagree when it comes to pavlova, rugby and Russell Crowe, one thing's for certain: there's enough of Flux to keep everyone happy. New York Knicks and Disney. This year is shaping up to be just as exciting, with Flux launching the brand on Australian shores. Enter Paul Gillett, Senior anima- tion director and co-founder of Flux Animation in Australia. He's also an Irishman with an Australian wife and a Kiwi son and when it comes to trans-Tasman relations, you can't get more diplomatic than that. Gillett arrived in Australia in January, and after being knocked around by cyclones, floods, bush- fires and a tiny tree snake in the garden, he officially opened the stu- dio doors in Brisbane. Things are already off to a great start, with the studio completing its first project in April. Rod Vallis and Peter Jacobsen of Square Elephant turned to Flux when no other animation company they'd talk to, in either Australia or New Zealand, could deliver the 5- minute animation piece they were after in the time given.
