Campaign Brief Magazine : January February 2010
45 JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2010 CAMPAIGNBRIEF P!NK's energy understandably starts to wane. Luckily, Dave's energy and her professionalism get us through. Wrap at 9pm. Friday August 28: Shoot day 2. Bangaroo on Sydney Harbour. A perfect Sydney day. Transporters, racing cars, stunt driving and P!NK. It doesn't get any better. Finish our last shot just as the sun sets over Sydney Harbour. Monday September 7: First edit arrives from Shelter Post in LA. We love it. Has everything we wanted. Present to client who agrees. The usual nips and tucks then it's over to Fuel to weave their magic. October, November, December: Daily updates of the FX taking shape over at Fuel. Things are look- ing awesome. The unfolding of the "transporter" is incredible. Friday January 15: Four months of CGI later, we're there. Sound mix, courtesy of Soundelux in LA comes in and is also approved. Agency ecstatic, client stoked. Break open the champagne. Our thanks to Rob and Karen at @radical, Andrew, Dave, Celia and the team at Fuel and our supportive and trusting V8 Supercar s clie nt for m aking it all happen. For such a massive job it was surprisingly painless. If only they were always this way. Another glass, please! Saturday August 22: Dave Meyers flies in from LA. Meet up and finalise shooting boards, lighting reference, set design and wardrobe. All good. Monday August 23: Meet with Dave and Dave Morley from Sydney visual effects studio, Fuel to discuss how in the world we're going to create our fantastic V8 world including thousands of fans and a massive, oversized transporter. Wednesday August 26: Four V8 Supercars are transported from Brisbane to location in Sydney. V8 Drivers Mark Winterbottom, Jamie Whincup, James Courtney, Rick Kelly, Fabian Coulthard and Will Davison also arrive in town. Everyone pumped!!! Thursday August 27: Shoot day 1. Arrive on location at Carriage- works, in the historic Everleigh Rail Yards in Redfern. Tony, Thea, Shane and Penny from V8s are there along with a cast of thou- sands. The sets created are amaz- ing. All built in just a few days. Meet up with Dave, DOP Tim Hudson, our six drivers, photogra- pher Gary Heery and wait for P!NK. She arrives, fresh from last night's performance, and the cam- eras roll. Dave shoots quickly and P!NK is into it. A real pro. The dri- vers are great and loving it all. As the shoot moves into the night, Tim Arrowsmith and Dean Mortensen relax between takes
