VIEEWPOINT UPIP F FWO ORP N V OITNTT This is filled with envy. And other more noble emotions. For a star t, pe ople who can ANDY LISH CONSULTANT, SYDNEY remembe r e ve ry ad that ever appeared in an award annual aston- ish me. I seldom read them, for the simple reason I get en vious o f all the great ideas and great work that appears in them. It makes my stuff look work-a-day and crap and that depresses me. Ho hum. At least this way it’s my work-a-day crap. Despite this handicap, I do love the first Tango s pot wi th th e fat Pom t aking on the F renchies. It came as a bolt out of the bl ue. Funny. Brave. Or t he S tarbucks ‘Eye of t he Tiger’ spot. Greening up. But I decided to l ook cl oser to Grosby Whybin\TBWA, Melbourne 2006 54 CA MPA I GN B RIEF home. And why not. One ad that I wi sh I had d one is t he r ecent Grosby ‘Faux Fur’ spot - where all the people dressed in an imal c os- tumes are invited to a party then slaughtered to make Faux Fur Ugg Boots. I love this! It is such a clever, left field idea, woven around the prod- uct. I t’s beautifully shot by Tony Rogers I believe, and the voice over is a peach. I’m verdant with envy. And admiration. (And I probably won ’t see this in man y, man y award books.) It was done by Rob Hibbert and Justi ne Gallacher from Whybin\ TBWA, Melbourne - possibly the most clever, most-talented, most unassuming team I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. In fact, with the exception of one wor k-a -day Nissan ad (which I could’ve written myself), everything this pair has done has caused a cer- tain twinge of e nvy. But I lov e ’em nonetheless. Well done guys! MAY/J UNE 2 007 GREENWITHENVY
