&BROWN CAMPAIGN BRIEF REVEALS CEO/ECD PARTNERSHIPS THAT ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE OF WORKING TOGETHER? Brown Being in an operating theatre with five brain surgeons and a patient with the top of her skull off and not one of them knew how to operate the VHS to record the operation. Melhuish Yeah, it’s pretty hard to forget that one. WHAT’S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU’VE FACED BUILDING BMF? BrownMaking enough money to afford great talent, starting without any clients put us a bit behind the eight ball. Melhuish Being taken seriously at the beginning. The workload was pretty tough then too - we did three pitches in a day once, two in Sydney and one in Canberra. DESCRIBE EACH OTHER’S OFFICES? BrownMatt’s desk is organised and neat as a pin, I don’t know how he does it because he’s not gay. Melhuish Warren’s is surprisingly tidy for a creative person but don’t tell anyone, it goes against the stereotype. WHAT DO YOU MOST ADMIRE ABOUT EACH OTHER? BrownMatt has plenty of determination and fire in the belly, which to some can be a little scary, but deep down he has a heart of gold and cares passionately about people, especially those less fortunate than himself. Melhuish Warren’s great creative talent (he can get to a great place very fast) and his ability not to take himself too seriously, he can see the funny side no matter what the situation. His party stamina is also legendary - he can drink harder and last longer than just about anyone I know. HOW WOULD YOUR RECEPTIONIST DESCRIBE HIM? Brown She said Matthew is ‘hard but fair’. Melhuish She said Warren has “a powerful presence”. WHEN ARE YOU SAILING OFF INTO THE SUNSET? Brown As my boat is called ‘Sunset’ that happens most weekends. Melhuish I have no plans to stop doing what I love, I’m too young to think about retirement! This is not the end; it’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter.
